"World Environment day", how do we mean it?

The whole world celebrating the world environment day with many zeal and gesture. But it's not the day of celebration but of awareness and  action. The time is ticking, the world is giving an ominous signal with every passing days. The latest report on climate change showed unprecedented decline of arctic sea ice, the maximum in over a century. The whole India is experiencing a summer that is breaking max. temperature records on every alternate day. Still their is no sign of monsoon, although met dept. expecting a normal or modest monsoon this year after a killing drought last year.

India as an agricultural hub of Asia still depends largely on monsoon waters for harvesting its crops. And when the cultivation decreases for lack of rain water, it really plays havoc on Indian economy and food inflation rises. Just like what happened last year round, thanks to the El-nino effect on weather pattern. But the underground water lavel in India is decreasing quite alarmingly thanks to mindless excavation of bore wells and deep tube wells. under this circumstances our policy makers should preserve the natural resources by restricting the misuse of ground water. We will have to turn to our natural reservoirs such as our rivers, lakes, ponds and water falls. The rivers of India must be dredged regularly to optimize its capacity, the rain water should be harvested and preserved for the future use and most importantly the sea water can be purified to make it consumable.

Today the mantra of the corporate world is to go green in all possible aspects. From the very building structure to the use of recycled paper the corporate world are slowly but steadily realizing their duty to the society and the environment. The real estate sector is going green by unveiling more and more environ-friendly building plans in India. By using fly ash, solar panel windows, natural cooling systems, water harvesting, recycling the waste, using cfl and other energy savers the many corporate houses doing their bit to preserve the nature. India has all the resources and promises to be a path-finder in the mission preserving the environment and saving the planet, it is now up to the political will of the leaders and awareness of common man that can change the way we look at the environment and its role on human existence in this beautiful planet.
