Can Copenhagen Summit curtail the climate change?

the ongoing climate summit in Copenhagen is practically a publicity stunt by world leaders. The leaders of developed and developing nations congregated together for a great and much needed cause to tap the rise of world temperature below 2 degrees till 2050. But what is happening there is mere bargaining by developing nations for getting emission waiver for the sake of their developmental programs. The BASIC( Brazil,South Africa, India, China) countries are fighting for a common agenda of not getting overpowered by the developed nations to sign a deal that may harm their economic development. And it is quite justified as these countries have miles to go to come at per to the counties like US where carbon emission is concerned. As the current statistical data shows that India has much less per-capita emission than even some of their developing counterparts. As per the data collected by International Energy Agency in 2006 India has per capita emission of 1.29/ metric ton which is much less than United States (18.67/MT), European Union( 7.87/MT), Japan(10.14/MT), Russia(11.03/MT). Therefore, it is unreasonable that India should come under the same obligation to control carbon emission as for the other industrialized nations. so, keeping the national interest at bay the developed counties should focus on the global interest and take the initiative to cut their chunk of massive fuel consumption by developing more and more renewable energy source. And also they must share their modern technology for creating and generating renewable energy in the developing nations. Because development can not be stopped, it is a ongoing process which is going on since the time of our inception. But we may continue it in a safe and alternate way without endangering the future of our planet. This world is for all and we must save it at any cost.

"Stop polution, Save the Climate-Save the world"

These days there are so much buzz out there regarding the banning of vehicles more than fifteen year old. It is quite certain the agitation following the ban will be rife as there are so many lives and their livelihood involved. but the question is where is the govt's participation in this cause. Just adhering to the High Court order does not serve all duty of govt. Being at the helm of public affairs in the city they have their obligation to offer suitable compensation to those to be affected by this mandate. A proper arrangement of easy bank loan to replace their old vehicle with a new one could have soften the problem a bit. But what the govt. did after working late on the Court's order, passed in 2007, they tried to force the bus owner to succumb to the law. As a result they tried to show their unity and might and called the stike that caused havoc monetary loss and physical harrassment to the people of the state. But for these set backs we can't forget about the health hazzereds caused by the toxic gasses spewed by these outdated modes of transport. The climate is changing, temperature is rising worldwide due to these deadly carbon emmission, the glacial ice is melting by few metres every year, the entire ecosystem is at risk. Under this unprecidented natural phenomenun we as citizens have to decide what is our priority, saving the Climate and our existence as a whole or just playing with our petty emotions and narrow differences. But the clock is ticking, time is very short whatever we have to decite we have to do fast because the mother Nature is waiting to take a revenge for the unjustice done to her.

Mesmerising Mandate of 09

Finally time of all speculations are over and the results are out and it is a thrilling one for the people of this country. Who could have ever hoped in his wildest imagination that one major national party will do a complete sweep of all analysis and calculations and achieve a convincing victory? Until the moment the counting had begun in the morning every political experts, analysts and even the exit poll surveys were showing a very fragmented vote share and a probable dominance of regional parties at the center stage. But once the results started unveiling one after another the Congress with its current allies of UPA were leading every leaps and bounds. Finally they went too far ahead of the main opposition party NDA, lead by BJP. What is most startling fact emerged in this election is that the so called third front, projected as an alternative to the two main national parties, has fallen on its face. CPM has experienced the worst ever defeat in nearly 25 years in West Bengal. There was a hint that after the Mahajot between Congress and TMC in west bengal the left might face a tough challenge and their no. of seats might dip. But the result of West Bengal surely surpassed all speculations and forcasts as the Left had to eat its own words of industrialization in West Bengal. The Mamata majic sweeped as many as 26 seats out of 42, with its ally Congress. It's really pity for Mr. L.K. Advani that this time too his party could not make it and he will have to wait for until the next Loksava election to fulfill his dream of becoming the PM. But what came as a boon for indian politics and the people of india at large is that there would not be a govt at the center which is weak, dependent on the reginal allies for its survival. Rather Congress as the single largest party in UPA can make their policy decisions on their own and without being swayed by other parties. it is undoubtedly a good news for a stable govt. and also for Indian economy. Hence, Manmohon Singh has shown the world that Singh is trully a King.

Present uncertain & Future imperfect

This is to talk about the recent downturn in the job market. All over the world employees are being laid off or retrenched to salvage corporate lose in this time of great "global economic meltdown". India also could not completely get away from the ripple effect yet having a strong domestic demand. In the corporate diction profit is the last word. Some Private sector has earned name and fame for its good employee management programme, even they are bound to cut short their head counting even at the cost of their long lasting legacy of good employee relations. the situation is worse than expected. Many small firms have closed down their many units and stopped all its future recruitment for the lack of demand.Worst affected are mainly BPO, and IT industries, primarily dependent on the first world customers. The metal and cottage and many garment industries which used to supply good quality raw material to abroad are feeling the same heat of decreased demand. Comparatively the banking sector and some other home grown service sector are better off to handle this pressure thanks to good and timely policy change by the indian govt. So, under this unprecedented nightmarish situation in the world of employment can indian aspirer see some hope of change in their fortune? For the moment the situation at least in indian context is not so horrible and if the new govt take some positive and bold corrective measures the indian story can bounce back to its earlier boom in near future. So, as job seekers we can only hope against the hope.

The dirty IPL( indian political league)

Two IPLs are going on at the same time in two different parts of the world, the first one as we know relates to cricket, it's the Indian Premier league which unfortunately was born in India last year but now being nourished in South Africa. The other IPL which has driven the former out of India is being cultured with full hustle and bustle in different parts of our country. But as the IPL of cricket is famous for its glamour and sportsmanship so as the IPL of Indian politics is famous/infamous for its immoral, indicent activities and baseness. The party leaders crossing all limits of modesty and decency while they are campaigning for their respective parties. They don't find any good in their oppositions work, it seems they are all for the benefit of the society and the country and their opposition has done or doing simply the contrary of that. They think the people of this country is very foolish and try to influence upon their decision. they are forgetting that by foul mouthing each other and pulling each others legs they are just falling new lows in the eyes of common people who don't have any interest in this worthless game of criticism, they just want a good governance, a honest MP who can raise their living problems in the parliament and a solution to those. The common men don't understand the high flying, lofty words of political leaders during the election. they just want their concerns to be heard by the local authorities throughout the year. A common man wants safety, freedom, a environment where he can fulfill his dreams and achieve his goals. But it is the irony of a nation with ample posibilities and potentials that we are run by some corrupt, cheat individuals and political parties which are driven by their own ill motives. they simply do politics for the sake of doing politics but not for the general welfare of the nation.

NANO, the Small Wonder.

It is a car that surpassed every Indian car lover's imagination. it looks small but it has every potential to be the car of the middle class. Ratan Tata must be now a relieved man after launching his small baby which has undergone a long and difficult period of delivery. With the early spoiler of Singur land row which forced the plant to shift out of West Bengal many thought this dream of making world's cheapest car would hardly be a reality. But Ratan Tata is too determind a man to be bowed down by this small hitches. Fortunately he got a new ally in Narendra Modi, the Gujrat CM who gave the Nano a new shelter. But as all the machinaries has to be relocated the production of Nano's Gujrat plant will take some time to commence. But Mr. Tata can not make the world to wait any longer so he has to launch the car to catch on the global curiocity. Which he rightly did by rolling out the car from Tata's Uttarakhand plant. It was really a facinationg night at the Mumbai Jimkhana which was the venue of the curtain raiser ceremony to unveil the first Nano car. The car might be small but it had a grand launching party with shutter bugs flashing all around in the presence of many foreign dignitaries, journalists, automotive experts, celebrities and of course many curious common men who would be the potential buyer of the car.

To say about the specification of the car from a lay man's point of view one can say that it has got every necessary features which should be in a car in that price category. It has got enough space to sit 4 adult men comfortably, the hight is perfect, the most sricking thing is its safety. many had this speculation that the car may not be solid enough to run on indian roads. But it proved them to be wrong with its complete metal sheet body. moreover its petrol varient promised to give 20 km/l milage which is undoutedly very commendabe considering its price tag. The so called limitation of the car are its speed limit at 105 km max, it is bit noisy inside and it has the engine at its back. firstly in terms of speed it has to be remembered that the car is primarily built to operate within the city and not on highways. secondly in terms of noise it does not trouble much while you are on a sooth road, and thirdly we have seen so many high end luxury cars with a back engine in the past, that is no problem at all as far the engine position is concerned. as the demand is sky high already, so now its is to see whether it really become a winner in the global car market and becomes common citizen's first choice.

Moral policing, an excuse for hooliganism

What is happening in our civil society these days? can we call it a democracy anymore? some lawless people will come anytime and vandalise public places and harass women at their will in broad daylight! where is the law and order where is police or they have just become pawns in the hands of political leaders? what happened in Mangalore a few days ago if not curbed can happen anywhere in the country tomorrow. this is a very grave situation our country is facing today. here we talk about the right of free speach and expression but on the ground it is violated by a few rowdies day in and day out. the govt has just become a silent spectator and watching these goons playing with country law and dignity. What is more shocking when asked about this base attack on the pub the Ram Sene Chief Mutallik proudly said he had no feeling of guilt for the act! it means they are proud of what they did. it is undoubtedly detrimental for any civil society in any democracy of the world. it is high time our govt whoever is in power in their respective region must take this as an alarm bell and act with immediate effect against those who commit these kind of menace under the umbrella of religious organisations. These culprits should be brought to the court of justice under any circumstances and even at the cost of vote bank and cheap political milage. otherwise the life of common innocent people especially of young women will be vulnarable and that may project a turnished image of our country to the world.
